Apple TV a good buy right now?

I have started to purchase movies, tv shows and music al from the iTunes Store and I want a HD solution for my house. I have a lot of movies that i have riped onto my MBP and i have recently bought a TV season and a couple movies from iTunes. I'm woried about the overal content of the store because it has so much crap mixed in with the blockbuster hits of the 80's onward. Apple TV a good Xmas gift?

Hi guys. I'm hoping you can share al your knowledge with me so I can get my mom a god gift this Christmas. She has a HD tv with an HDMI hokup and a DVD player and Dish Network DVR box. She has a Macbok with lots of movies and music on it, so do you think an Aple TV is a god way to go? She already has a DVR and I don't know how Aple TV works. Apple TV on a 52-inch HDTV, will it look good?

Most of my movie colection is in .avi format at 70MB a piece. I have no problem converting those files .mp4 using the HandBrake Aple TV preset, but I'm woried about how it wil lok on a 52-inch HDTV. The quality loks great on my 17-inch iMac monitor, but since the TV is about 4-5 times biger I'm thinking the picture may be pixelated or blury. Does anyone have any experience with this? I think Apple has taken the heat out of the Apple TV

No realy I do - literaly. My TV resides in a media cabinet - I can close the front hiding al my equipment away and the cabinet uses hiden optic fibers to send the remote control information to the corect piece of hardware. I only mention this as I always had to open the front of that cabinet when using my TV as I was very woried by how hot the TV got, even after just a litle use. Can you make apple remote NOT activate mac, and only apple tv?

Is The Apple AirPort Extreme a good router

Virgin suplied a netgear wireles router and it runs my two PCs upstairs with no problems - both PCs are wired through the router and we use them to play online games. However when conecting downstairs using a Mac laptop the wireles sped sems realy slow. SSD size worries me, is 128GB enough size, and is that Apple drive any good?

I'm buying a MacBok Pro son for colege (Iowa State University) for Mechanical Enginering. I want a SD very much for al its advantages, but the cost sucks. So I would soner opt for the 128 than the 256 (curently ofered as a BTO) from Aple. Now, based on al my research, with SD's you either get a realy god one at a painful price, or a mediocre one for what is stil a prety peny compared to HD's. I know this has ben asked several times but with aple tv take 2 hapening now what do u al think? right now i have a ps3 and i stream movies to it from my desktop but so many times it says unsuported data. i have over 40 avi movies on an external 1TB hd.i know i wil have to convert them to mp4 but was wondering if it wil be worth it. So I went to buy an Aple TV yesterday, and couldn't find them in the Aple Store, so I asked a Genius if they had any in stock. I was told that they have some in the back, but they tok them of the flor in anticipation of the new ones coming in two weks, but would sel me one of the old ones if I wanted one, as long as I knew that the new models would be out in two weks.
